6. How have you tried to effect change in relation to an issue of personal, local, or national significance?

Tijuana-River.jpgRecently i went to clean up the tijuana estuary of liter and this was personal, local, and national significance. This would be personal because it helped me achieving my community service goal, local because i helped my local community clean up the estuary and national because the junk we picked up from the estuary will not end up in the ocean and will not harm the sea life world wide. The trash shown to the right will sooner or later enter the sea and harm our sea life. This was also a fun experience because we worked as a team to get rid of junk and everyone else was having a good time. I also did this for personal change for peace of mind; i like to think that i made a difference in our world. This helped my local community because surfers and people who use the beach often will not see tall the trash that goes out into the sea when it rains. This also helps our ecosystem because all this trash harms the fish and other sea life who live in the sea and less sea-life means less reproduction which ultimately means less sea life.
5. If you had the responsibility to decide where $1 million should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world, what project(s) would you choose? Why?
r250686_1029888.jpgIf i had the money i would pt all of it into m hometown of Tijuana to stop violence and raise security. When i was little i never heard of violence but now tijuana is seen as one of Mexico's most dangerous city and the kills me to see what my hometown has become. I want Tijuana to be like it used to, i remember tourist were not afraid to roam the streets at night. However the cartels have put an end to that with their constant drug wars and as well as the corruption of the police force over there. 1 million dollars I'm afraid will only eliminate a small fraction of the problem however whatever i can do is good. Now what used to be tourist attraction are now avoided and the streets that we once filled with people are now empty. 1 million dollars will not be nearly enough to repair all the damage the cartels have made in my city. The cartel scare people and then people avoid tijuana and this puts people in the streets who own businesses that rely on tourist attractions. My tijuana is not the same as before but with work it could be what it was many years ago; filled with culture instead oftijuana-five-tons-of-drugs-cartel-seized-in-blow-against-photo.jpg
This. Guess you can say this is typical nowadays.

4. If you could go back in time and be someone in history, who would you choose to be? Why
If could go back in time and be any historic figure i would be J.D. Rockefeller because of his incredible business skills and his great achievement of monopolizing the oil industry fascinates me. Since i to want to be a business major i would like to live his life. Rockefeller also serves as a role model to me because he managed to do something that is impossible nowadays. Even though monopolies are impossible and i think even illegal now i wish to be as successful as him and achieve the same amount of wealth. Another thing that makes me want to be him is that he was able to buyout all his competition to construct an oil powerhouse where he made his prices. MY ultimate dream to have my own monopoly however it is impossible in this world so that is wh i would like to be J.D. Rockefeller
